yeah almost right - the funda being that the cos of the angle of the nose of the aircraft is a blah blah aerodynamically important parameter. and they had 45 degree bent nose in their first nmmodel....which led to cos 45 = .707 or boeing 707 model....and they followed it up with with 717, 727 , 737 etc...
