1.The album's cover was rumored to be meant to show this rock artist urinating on the American flag. Whether that was actually the intent has never been confirmed. Pretty guessable.... identify the artist and the album.
2.Based on the Robert Williams painting, this cover depicted a robot rapist about to be punished by a toothy metal avenger. MTV refused to play any of the bands videos because of this cover art. he band compromised and put the original cover art inside, replacing it with a cover depicting a cross and skulls of the five band membershis compromise did not satisfy MTV, and the network continued the video ban. Finally,David Geffen, then-president of Geffen Records called MTV and earnestly requested MTV to play the band's songs. MTV finally relented, and soon the album's headline single became the #1 most requested song in 24 hrs. Identify the band and possibly the album.
3. The album's intended artwork did not reach the UK in time to press the album, so a cover of naked women lounging in front of a black background was issued in its place. This guitarists family, who own the rights to the album and most of his catalogue, has stated that the original UK cover will never be used again since the artist himself did not like it. Identify this legendary guitarist and the album. Nice cover :D.
4. This cover is of a band which was the defining act of its genre. The lyrics contain mentions of or references to semen ,hymens, open sores, parasites, milk and even abortion. The cover as seen includes a photo of a TAM (Transparent Anatomical Mannikin), a medical, anatomical model on the front cover (with added angel wings), a collage of flowers, plastic fetuses and turtle shells on the back cover, and various symbols of fertility on the back cover and sprinkled throughout the liner notes, for which the album became very very controversial, despite for its huge commercial success. It is often regarded as the best album of the band. Identify.
5.This cover art was inspired by the ending of Arthur.C.Clarke's novel
Childhood's End. (The ending involves several naked children, only slightly and physically resembling the human race in basic forms.) It is a collage of several photographs taken at the Giant's Causeway, Northern Ireland, by Aubrey Powell of Hipgnosis. The results of the shoot were less than satisifactory, but some accidental tinting effects in post-production created an unexpectedly magical album cover. It was initially released with a paper collar wrapped around the cover, printed with the band and album name, that had to be broken or slid off to access the record. This hid the children's bottoms from general display, but still the album was either banned or unavailable in Spain and some parts of the southern USA for several years. The cover was later rated #6 on VH1's 50 Greatest Album Covers in 2003. The album itself was the 149th greatest album of all time acc to VH1. Identify this legendary band and the legendary album.
6. The original album art, seen here, aroused the anger of some Hindus, who felt the artwork, taken from Hindu imagery and altered by giving the dancing figure a cat's head, was offensive. The band, who had been unaware of the source of the artwork, and record company apologized, and changed the artwork to the version seen above. Identify this album by "America's Greatest Rock and Roll Band". (Hint: The CAT's head is significant)
7. The boy on the cover is Peter Rowan(brother of the band's lead singer's friend) . He also appears on 3 other album covers for the band. The image was changed laterto a distorted picture of the band for Canada and the USA due to fears that the band would be accused of
pedophilia.
One other cover is also seen. Identify the band. Pretty simple due to the immense popularity of the band. :)
